One of my students traveled to Tanzania this summer and immediately got malaria. Bed-ridden, she had a lot of time to read and came back raving about this book, not knowing I am from Ethiopia. Cutting for Stone takes place in Ethiopia. I only read the first few pages before I was floored. This book is amazing from the content to the writing itself. And it’s a perfect example of this element of multiculturalism that we are trying to capture with our book project.
